Toy Story 3

Toy Story 3 was another emotional affair. We don't know that this is the end and there are a lot of signs now pointing to there being a 4th film in the works. Just remember, they were talking about Toy Story 3 back in 2006. So, we're looking at possibly 2015 before we see Woody and Buzz Lightyear back again.

Toy Story 3 brings the toys back together. Andy is all grown up and off to college. He decides he will take Woody with him and puts the other toys in a bag so they can be saved in the attic. His mother mistakens the bag for trash and puts it on the curb. The toys find their way to a box being donated to Sunnyside day care where there will be plenty of kids to play with them.

It's a classic display of the grass not being greener on the other side. They end up in a situation where the new toys, lead by Lotso the bear, run the day care similar to a jail. Buzz looses his identity and Woody makes a calculated attempt to save his friends.

From beginning to end this is a classic movie, animated or not. There are a few things to take into account when comparing a movie to other great films. Great story? Yes. Great characters? Yes. Did it stir emotions? Yes. I am particularly happy with the beginning action scene which is similar to other imaginative "playing" we've seen in the previous films. Only this time it's through Andy's eyes.

Pixar is at the top of their game here, which is saying a lot. In a way, I would like them to go out on top and not make another Toy Story. Although, I think they will and I will be one of the first in line to watch it. Woody and Buzz have gone from adversaries, vying for the top spot in Andy's heart, to great allies. This is the best one so far and as long as the story goes on they will continue to be just as amazing.
