Just Go With It

Everyone has seen an Adam Sandler movie before. We all want to like them and we obviously keep going to see them. Same with anything that Jennifer Aniston does. This may be somewhat of a "spoiler alert", but there are no surprises in this one. You can figure it out by the trailer.

Now, when a movie is that obvious it's all about the story, the actors and how they get there. This is one of the best Sandler or Aniston movies I've seen in a long time. They are a good on-screen combo. It was a well-overdue surprise because Grown-Ups was a low point for Happy Madison (it could have been so much better).

Sandler's character, Danny Maccabee, is a plastic surgeon in L.A. He lies to women about his marriage falling apart so they will sleep with him. This is all the result of his wedding day disaster 20 years previous when Danny had a ridiculously large nose.

Katherine Murphy (Jennifer Aniston) works for Maccabee and she knows all of his dirty little secrets. She is also divorced with a son and a daughter. When Danny meets Palmer (Brooklyn Decker) he is not wearing his "wedding ring" so he doesn't lie to her initially. Once she finds the ring he is forced to lie about being divorced, but she ends up wanting to meet the woman he is divorcing. Typical.

He then uses Katherine Murphy (Aniston) to be a fake ex-wife named Delvin and her kids to stand in as his own. The young boy ends up blackmailing Maccabee (Sandler) to take everyone on a trip to Hawaii. It seems to take a while to get there, but they eventually make it. From there it's all pretty obvious.

The one thing I was very happy about is that Nick Swardson carried a huge piece of this movie. He was the comic relief piece that fit to Sandler's toned down family style. This gave it a great combination of reality and funny. He plays Danny's cousin Eddie who ends up pretending date Katherine as an Austrian sheep salesman named "Dolph Lundgren." He comes in for quite a few one-liners, which is what he is really good at.

Another good performance to note is Dave Matthews as a man that apparently invented the i-Pod. Overall, I would give this film an approved rating. If you want a calm night of movie watching then this is your movie. Think of Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler being in a movie together. There's really not much more to it.
