Lemmy

There was an old question that goes like this:

“Who'd win in a wrestling match, Lemmy or God?

“…trick question. Lemmy is God.”

That’s from the 1994 movie Airheads and that was the first time I ever heard the name Lemmy. I never forgot it. If you have ever listened to Heavy Metal you have been exposed to Motorhead, whether you know it or not.

This is a rockumentary about Lemmy Kilmister. The thing that is so intriguing about Lemmy is that he’s unwavering as a human being. He hasn't changed over the years and it's evident in the way he lives his life and in the music of Motorhead. He is one of the most respected individuals in all of music.  He is, for the most part, private and a quiet man. He enjoys sitting at the trivia or slots machines for hours on end. Just his Jack and Coke and cigarette.

Many of the music industry's famous faces show up to speak about their experiences with Lemmy. From top to bottom everyone talks about what a genuinely nice guy he is. From the perspective of a fan, it’s enjoyable to watch Dave Grohl and Lemmy jam to “Run Rudolph Run.” Then, they share a funny story about "The Darkness." There are plenty of great stories, including one where Lemmy recalls the Beatles (not the Stones) being the real bad boys of Rock ‘n’ Roll.

From Lemmy’s hoarder-like apartment to his on-stage appearance with Metallica, you will never get a closer look at this legend of a man. Even if you aren’t a Motorhead fan you should check this entertaining documentary out.
