300

300 is a cool movie. It's obvious it was made in front of a green screen. It's even more obvious that these guys aren't this ripped up. It's based off of a graphic novel aka a comic book with vulgar language. You must take that into consideration. It's a testosterone enraged battle of the little army vs. the big army.

King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) leads an army of 300 Spartan men against an entire Persian army. That pretty much wraps up the film right there. It's a fictional account of the Battle of Thermopylae, so don't get your history books out here. It stays pretty true to the amazing Frank Miller's graphic novel. Zack Snyder directs and if you've seen any of his other films he excels at recreating the magic found in Comic books.

I feel like most movies lose something when they are completely created through computer animation, but there is a different level to 300. It goes beyond that. It may seem a bit silly at times, but if it were not made in the same manner of the comic book it would look like another knock-off Conan movie. This along with Sin City are two examples of directors using CGI for the good that it was created for. It helps that both examples were originally created by Frank Miller.
